Vulval Cancer

The vulva is the external part of the female genitalia, and although vulval cancer is rare, it is important to recognise and treat it early. Some vulval cancers develop from a precancerous condition known as VIN (vulval intraepithelial neoplasia), which can be managed to reduce the risk of cancer developing.

Vulval cancer accounts for just over 1,000 cases in the UK each year. It can affect women of any age but is more common after menopause. With early diagnosis and appropriate treatment, outcomes are often very positive.
