Mr Ellis Downes is a consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology with extensive experience, having held the role since 1999. After 11 years as an NHS consultant at Chase Farm Hospital in North London, he moved into full-time private practice, based in Harley Street, The Portland Hospital and King Edward VII Hospital. He now offers virtual consultations and specialises particularly in the menopause and peri-menopause, complications of HRT, abnormal uterine bleeding, urinary leakage and recurrent bladder infections.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Leicester in 1989. He became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in 1994 and was awarded fellowship (FRCOG) in 2008 in recognition of his contributions to the field.

Mr Downes actively contributes to medical education and research. He has co-edited the textbook Advances in Gynaecological Surgery, published numerous research papers and serves as an ad hoc medical reviewer for several endoscopic journals. He is also a member of the editorial board of Gynaecological Surgery. From 2008 to 2017, he held the position of visiting professor at Middlesex University.

Outside of his clinical work, he enjoys boating and is always working to improve his golf game. He is married to Louise and is a proud father to two children, George and Lily.
